TAIPEI: Taiwan stocks rose 0.78 per cent on Wednesday, led by computer makers and largely in line with a strong performance in other regional bourses.
As of 0215 GMT, the main TAIEX index was up 74.79 points to 9,608.77, after closing down 0.2 per cent on Tuesday.
The electronics subindex was up 1 per cent, with the computers and peripheral equipment subindex notching a 1.73 per cent rise.
Among the biggest gainers in the subindex, consumer brand AsusTek Computer Inc rose 3.13 per cent, while Apple Inc assembler Compal Electronics Inc saw a 3 per cent bump.
Semiconductors gained 0.75 per cent, while electrical components rose 1.28 per cent.
The Taiwan dollar was up T$0.082 to stand at T$31.091 to the US dollar.
