Taiwan stocks decline 0.26% to hit 6 months low

TAIPEI: Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , Iron & Steel and Electronic Parts/Components sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.26% to hit a new 6-months low.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Aoc (TW:6289), which rose 8.93% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.12 at the close. Meanwhile, Tung Kai Tech (TW:3018) added 7.84% or 1.20 points to end at 16.50 and Mag Tech (TW:2358) was up 6.61% or 0.62 points to 10.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fulgent Sun (TW:9802), which fell 9.98% or 5.20 points to trade at 46.90 at the close. Asia Plastic (TW:1337) declined 9.86% or 1.70 points to end at 15.55 and Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) was down 9.80% or 0.49 points to 4.51.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 568 to 274 and 1 ended unchanged.

Shares in Aoc (TW:6289) rose to all time lows; gaining 8.93% or 0.10 to 1.12. Shares in Asia Plastic (TW:1337) fell to all time lows; losing 9.86% or 1.70 to 15.55. Shares in Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) fell to 52-week lows; down 9.80% or 0.49 to 4.51.

Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.61% or 0.29 to $48.74 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.24% or 0.13 to hit $55.40 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.98% or 10.70 to trade at $1083.40 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was down 0.08% to 31.424, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.1987.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 97.28
