Taiwan stocks end 0.04% higher

TAIPEI: Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Biotech & Medical Care and Information Services sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.04%.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Fortune Info (TW:2468), which rose 9.91% or 1.05 points to trade at 11.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Scinopharm (TW:1789) added 9.90% or 3.50 points to end at 38.85 and Cyberpower (TW:3617) was up 9.02% or 6.00 points to 72.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Test Research (TW:3030), which fell 8.47% or 5.30 points to trade at 57.30 at the close. Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) declined 6.69% or 2.40 points to end at 33.45 and Taiwan Paiho (TW:9938) was down 5.99% or 4.50 points to 70.60.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 484 to 361.

Shares in Cyberpower (TW:3617) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.02% or 6.00 to 72.50.

Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.19% or 0.10 to $51.01 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.34% or 0.20 to hit $57.12 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.03% or 0.30 to trade at $1143.60 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was down 0.64% to 31.106, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1993.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 97.69.
