Taiwan stocks fall, TAIEX dips 0.2%

TAIPEI:  Taiwan stocks fell on Wednesday as investors took profits on tech shares following recent gains.

As of 0115 GMT, the main TAIEX index was down 0.2 per cent at 9,620.14 points, after closing up 0.4 per cent on Tuesday, its highest close in seven sessions.

ACTIVELY TRADED chipmaker TSMC was off 0.7 per cent.

The electronics subindex was off 0.4 per cent, while the financial subindex was also down 0.2 per cent. But the transport subindex was 0.1 per cent higher.

The Taiwan dollar edged up T$0.052 to stand at T$31.100 to the US dollar.
