Taiwan stocks higher at end, Taiwan Weighted gains 1.94%

TAIPEI: Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Glass, Trading & Consumer Goods and Electronic Parts/Components sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 1.94%.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Asia Optical (TW:3019), which rose 10.00% or 2.55 points to trade at 28.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Anderson (TW:1528) added 10.00% or 0.79 points to end at 8.69 and Nan Ya Pcb Cor (TW:8046) was up 9.98% or 2.85 points to 31.40 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Cmc Magnetics (TW:2323), which fell 9.56% or 0.28 points to trade at 2.65 at the close. Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) declined 7.78% or 0.35 points to end at 4.15 and Jye Tai (TW:6165) was down 7.04% or 0.95 points to 12.55.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 516 to 328.

Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.30% or 0.59 to $44.63 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 99.02% or 49.56 to hit $0.49 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1133.40 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was up 0.31% to 32.515, while TWD/CNY rose 0.31% to 0.1962.
