Taiwan’s CPT revenue falls 2.2%, HannStar revenue dips 5% in Sept

TAIPEI: Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) and HannStar Display have both reported revenue declines for September and the third quarter of 2015.

CPT reported NT$3.96 billion (US$121.75 million) in revenues for September, down 2.2% on month and down 5.4% on year. Revenues from January-September of the year declined nearly 14% on year while revenues decreased 2.61% on quarter during the third quarter.

The company’s revenues declined in September despite a 75% on-month increase for large-size panels. Small- to medium-size panel shipments meanwhile dropped 13.7% on year in September.

CPT subsidiary Giantplus Technologies meanwhile has reported a 25.08% on-year decline in revenues from January-September 2015. Company revenues for September 2015 declined 8.36% to NT$882 million while those for the third quarter of the year dropped 2.61% to NT$2.83 billion.

For HannStar Display, September revenues dropped 5% on month while revenues from January-September dropped 23%. Shipments of small- to medium-size applications increased 11.9% in September and large-size applications increased 34.6% on month. Revenues for the third quarter dropped 3.29%.
