ISLAMABAD: Collectorate of Customs Collector Seema Raza Bokhari said that customs department is using all available resources and possible measures to curb illegal intra Kashmir trade.
Talking with Customs Today, she said that intra-Kashmir Trade (IKT) is a serious threat for local business community paying huge taxes to government, adding that the locals could not compete with intra-Kashmir traders because of paying zero duty taxes, while local merchants are paying all duty and taxes even they are doing business of perishable items or other legal supplies.
Collector Seema said that she had asked all the staff to keep focus on revenue performance of third quarter (January to March) FY2018-19, adding that she also asked the staff to take every possible measure to facilitate businessmen at Air Freight Unit (AFU) as well as at Islamabad Dry Port.
She said that the Collectorate fetched 15% extra revenue against assigned revenue collection target for the month of February FY18-19, and Collectorate achieved targets of Customs Duty and other taxes assigned by the FBR for month of February FY2018-19. She added that the Islamabad Collectorate’s both stations i.e. AFU and IDP contributed in the realization of this success by attaining their respective targets.
She said that the Islamabad Collectorate collected Rs.688 million under the head of customs duty against the assigned target of Rs.652 million.
Seema Bokhari attributed this achievement to Allah’s kindness and the untiring efforts and hard work of the officers and staff of the Collectorate. She expressed confidence that this effort will continue to strive for such successes in future as well.
