QUETTA: The Anti-Smuggling Squad of the Customs Collectorate Quetta, with the assistance of the Frontier Constabulary (FC), impounded a tanker and drums filled with high speed smuggling diesel worth Rs15million from three dumping grounds.
According to details given by Ashraf Ali, Collector, Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Quetta, that, on a tip-off shared by sources, the anti-smuggling squad, led by Maqbool Ahmed Baloch, Deputy Collector, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Quetta, raided three dumping grounds at Hazar Ganji, Saryab Road, Quetta, and seized 120,000 liters of High Speed Diesel (HSD).
The Collector told Customs Today that the HSD was recovered from the underground storage tanks and drums besides involving filling of smuggling diesel seized on the spot. The CIF value of the seized HSD is around Rs8.1million and the value of the oil tankers is Rs07million.
After finding no proof of the legality, a criminal case was registered against the smugglers and further investigation is underway. The case has been also forwarded to the adjudication for further action.
