MUMBAI: An Indian Multinational conglomerate company, Tata has reshaped its four year-old Aria SUV to create the Hexa, revealed in week at Geneva Motor Show.

Developed with input from subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover in a bid to meet European safety standards and quality expectations, the Aria made its production debut in 2010.

But, while Tata is understood to be planning a new range that will more deeply integrate JLR technologies, the Aria is built on Tata’s own pickup-based ladder chassis and is driven by the Indian carmaker’s 115kW 2.2 litre ‘Varicor’ diesel

The six-seat Hexa revealed in Geneva builds on the Aria’s ‘MPV cum SUV’ body with the addition of brand-new styling at both ends, new highlights along the profile and a revised interior design.

Importantly, the ‘new’ model’s styling is expected to preview a long-coming styling leap for the Indian brand, which will signal its anticipated push into more Western passenger car markets – including Australia.

The Hexa will hit the Indian market in the coming year, but it remains to be seen if it will be included in Tata’s plans for the Australian passenger car market – plans that aren’t expected to kick off until later this decade.
