Adjudication-I directs M/s Muneeb Sanitary to pay evaded tax of Rs 1.92m

KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I has issued a show-cause notice to M/s Muneeb Sanitary Store for allegedly evading duty and taxes of Rs 1.92 million.

According to the show-cause notice, the defaulter company, with active connivance of their clearing agents M/s Magna Shipping agency, imported two consignments of different sanitary items under Pakistan Custom Tariff Heading 9588.2501 and cleared the subject goods at lower values than the values determined vide valuation database letter issued by Directorate General Customs Valuation on July 5, 2014.

It was observed that the importer intentionally and deliberately got the subject goods cleared at lower values and deprived the government exchequer of its legitimate revenue.

It was evident that M/s Muneeb Sanitary willfully and intentionally got their consignments cleared at lower values and evaded duty / taxes to the tune of Rs 1.92 million.

It is necessary to mention here that Customs Adjudication has already expedited their efforts to conclude the hearing of the pending cases on priority basis.
