Tax evasion: CRTO attaches bank accounts of PCSIR, Canal View Society

LAHORE: Corporate Regional Tax Office (CRTO) of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has freeze the bank accounts of Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) Housing Society and Canal View Cooperative Housing Society in tax evasion.

As per details, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has started crackdown against the tax defaulters housing societies. In this regard both housing societies Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) Housing Society and Canal View Cooperative Housing Society failed to clear their tax liability.

The tax liability payable by Canal View Cooperative Housing Society is Rs 26.4 million under the head of income tax and PCSIR society not cleared their tax liability amounting to Rs0.94 million under the head of withholding tax for the year 2015.

On the directions of Chief Commissioner of Corporate Regional Tax Office (CRTO) Nadeem Rizvi, a team under the supervision of Commissioner Inland Revenue  Farhan Ghauri take action against tax defaulters and freeze the bank accounts of Canal View Cooperative Housing Society.

Similarly, FBR authorities attached the bank accounts of PCSIR Society and recovered Rs9.1 million from the account.
