Tax evasion: Inland Revenue-I&I team raids Mandviwala Entertainment

KARACHI: The Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Inland Revenue has raided the Mandviwala Entertainment (Private) Limited in Saddar Karachi in Atrium Mall.

According to details, a team of Directorate of I&I-Inland Revenue raided the company belong to Nadeem Mandviwala, who is a brother of the serving Senator of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

Sources informed Customs Today that the raid was conducted on a tip-off that the company was involved in evading huge government revenue in terms of sales tax with the connivance of his brother, who is a serving Senator of the opposition party.

The officials in Directorate of I&I-Inland Revenue informed Customs Today that the accused Nadeem Mandviwala is holding a license of Atrium Cinema in Karachi and Centaurus cinema in Islamabad, but he was found defaulter of the government in term of sales tax and income tax since long.

The sources further informed this scribe that the brother of Nadeem Mandviwala was reached on the scene at the time of raid and also interfered in the operation carried out by the authorities concerned of I&I- Inland Revenue

Subsequently, the raided team of Directorate of Inland Revenue-I&I was returned without having any arrest into the case despite having authority letter/search warrant.
