Tax Reform Commission suggests government to make FBR an autonomous organization with full power

ISLAMABAD: Tax Reform Commission (TRC) suggested government to make FBR an autonomous organization with full power and said that Federal Board of Revenue should be free of political and external interference.

According to details Tax Reform Commission (TRC) meeting was held headed by Chairman TRC Masood Naqvey, chairman FBR Tariq Bajwa, Member Inland Revenue policy Shahid Hussian, Member Inland Revenue Operation Muhammad Ashraf Khan, Member Customs Nisar Muhammad including others participated in the meeting.

Commission has supported the establishment of Border Force for eradication and controlling smuggling across international border. Meanwhile the commission almost completed suggestion and proposal to improve and brings reforms in Tax system. The Commission also discussed to organize and make practical the direct and indirect tax, Customs tariff.

It is to mention here that TRC has established in September 2014 to finalized reforms in 120 days but the Commission has failed to complete the task in preferred time period. The reforms suggested by TRC will be included in the next finance bills after government approval for this reasons the time period is extended.
