LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notice and summons Attorney General of Pakistan and Advocate General Punjab in case of new taxes on new vehicles.
Yesterday, when Justice Shahid Karim began the hearing of the case, the applicant Azhar Sadique argued that the tax imposition on new vehicles has violated the law.
Azhar saddique argued that under the law in presence of one tax the other tax cannot be imposed. The government is also imposing tax on purchase of new vehicles, token tax and some other taxes, which the court should declare nul and void.
He further argued that government spends tax on celebrities protocol not on public welfare that is illegal step. The government publishes advertisement to attract donors attention regarding zakat. The government has failed to provide free of cost medicines in hospitals but authorities spends billion of rupees on metro bus.
After hearing the arguments, the court issued notice to Attorney General of Pakistan and Advocate General of Punjab to appear before the court on September 7, 2015.
