MULTA: Taxpayers can apply for a one-page solution to their problems under Section 33 of the Federal Tax Ombudsman Act. Strict disciplinary action has been recommended against the corrupt officials of Federal Board of Revenue to rectify serious issues.
It was stated by Federal Tax Ombudsman Dr. Asif Mehmood Jah during meeting the delegation of Multan Tax Bar Association led by President Bar Malik Khadim Hussain Maitla on their visit to Federal Tax Ombudsman Secretariat Islamabad. Delegation of Multan Tax Bar Association congratulated Dr. Asif Mehmood Jah on his appointment as Federal Tax and discuss maladministration issues.
President Multan Tax Bar Malik Khadim Hussain Maitla appreciated the appointment of Dr. Asif Mehmood Jah as Federal Tax Ombudsman and said that he has the transparent past and vast departmental experience of Federal Tax Ombudsman and hoped that FTO will sort out issues of taxpayers on priority basis.
He said that regional offices of Federal Tax Ombudsman have been opened in three cities to provide speedy justice. Federal Tax Ombudsman has recommended strict action against several corrupt officials while thousands of taxpayers have been provided immediate relief. Hundreds of action-packed recommendations have been made in several cases, including exposing the bogus refund scandal of billions of rupees by Federal Board of Revenue officials, one of the agency’s first successes. He added that taxpayers can apply for a one-page solution to their problems under Section 33 of the Federal Tax Ombudsman Act.

He also reiterated that the corrupt officials of the Federal Board of Revenue who did not implement the decisions to make the office of the Federal Tax Ombudsman functional should be punished. At the end of the meeting, Dr. Asif Mehmood Jah thanked the delegation of Multan Tax Bar Association and assured to visit Multan.
The Tax Bar delegation included President Tax Bar Malik Khadim Hussain Maitla and senior members Muhammad Younis Ghazi, Muhammad Usman, Malik Muhammad Rafiq, Naseeruddin Humayun, Sardar Waqar Khan, Noorin Anjum, Syed Junaid Mumtaz Shah, Malik Maqbool Ahmed and Shama Maqbool and Muhammad Imran Ghazi were among them.
