Taxpayers facing difficulties due to non-functioning of IRIS system

MULTAN: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office (RTO) taxpayers facing severe obstacles in filing their tax returns due to overload of IRIS system.

Taxpayers are facing difficulty in e-filing of income tax returns for economic year 2019-20. IRIS software is operating very slowly due to overload of users and it is giving too much error at the time of e-filing of Income tax returns.

Huge numbers of taxpayers were in the Regional Tax Office Multan and they were complaining about IRIS system in the regional tax office Multan for filing their Income tax, sales tax and Federal Excise duty returns. IRIS system is not operating efficiently at the time of filing their tax returns and taxpayers are still experiencing programming errors in the IRIS software.

Slow processing of FBR IRIS system affecting the process of e-filing income tax returns badly and filers are concerned to file their tax returns in given deadline of FBR. Due to load on the FBR e-portal Server did not respond to command or working very slow.

Taxpayers contacted the Regional Tax Office Multan facilitation centre after facing issues in e –filing system but authorities informed that IRIS system is overloaded from headquarter and its errors will be rectified very soon.

Sources told Customs Today that sales tax, federal excise duty and income tax returns filing dates are close and they are trying to access online system for filing their returns at the same time and system server was slowed down due to huge number of users.

Tax experts and taxpayers have demanded from Federal Board of Revenue to remove the existing bugs from IRIS software and upgrade their existing system for the facilitation of taxpayers
