The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had started collecting the duty in 2006 but following the amendment, the federal excise duty should be collected by the province that is being collected by the FBR. The situation has created confusion among the taxpayers to whom the tax should be deposited. According to Large Taxpayer Unit, the government has not issued notification in this regard. Hence the FED will be collected by the FBR.
