KARACHI: Member Inland Revenue (Operation) Rehmatullah Khan Wazir has asked the taxpaying business community not to be afraid of legal actions taken by the officials of Federal Board of Revenue.

He said this while talking to media after his visit to Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU) Karachi. “Genuine taxpayers should not worry about enforcement drive by the field formation,” he said.

Wazir said that FBR filed formation would only take action against non-filers and tax defaulters.

On the other hand, sources said that the FBR would launch audit and enforcement against 100,000 individuals and 21,000 companies.

A strategy has been devised and all penal provisions under the tax laws would be invoked, including heavy fine and penalties, bank attachment and imprisonment, the FBR officials said.
