TDC seeks cooperation of business community to promote diabetes care

ISLAMABAD: Asjad Hameed, Chairman, Board of Directors of The Diabetes Centre (TDC) along with his team visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) and held a meeting with Muhammad Shakeel Munir, President to seek the cooperation of business community to promote diabetes care and save people from this rapidly spreading disease. Jamshaid Akhtar Sheikh Senior Vice President, Muhammad Faheem Khan Vice President ICCI, Mian Shaukat Masud former President, Khalid Chaudhry former Senior Vice President and others were present at the occasion.

Dr. Asjad Hameed said that there was no specialized diabetes hospital in the public or private sector in Pakistan. Therefore, The Diabetes Centre (TDC) was established to focus on diabetes care, treatment and to create awareness about this disease in the general masses. He said that TDC is a not-for-profit state–of–the–art healthcare facility while currently its two branches are working in Islamabad and one in Lahore. He said that its network would be further enhanced in cooperation with the philanthropists so that more diabetes patients could take benefit of its services. He invited the ICCI delegation to visit TDC in order to see its facilities and services. He further said that ICCI should join the Advisory Board of TDC and contribute towards promoting its vision and mission. He said that 50 percent deserving patients were being provided free treatment. He hoped that the business community would come forward to cooperate with TDC so that it could further expand its network to provide diabetes care to more patients.

Speaking at the occasion, Muhammad Shakeel Munir, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry appreciated the the noble cause of TDC led by Dr. Asjad Hameed and assured that the business community would try to extend its cooperation in this noble mission. He proposed that TDC in cooperation with ICCI should organize an awareness program on diabetes for the business community so that they could adopt preventive measures to remain safe from this disease.

Jamshaid Akhtar Sheikh Senior Vice President, Muhammad Faheem Khan Vice President ICCI, Mian Shaukat Masud former President and others also lauded the noble cause of TDC and assured that the business community would cooperate with it in taking forward its good mission.
