ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has adjourned the hearing into a petition filed by telecom operators including Telenor, Ufone, Mobilink, Zong and Warid against imposition of sales tax on mobile phones and SIM cards.

On Thursday counsel for the telecom companies Barrister Khalid Anwar completed his arguments. He concluded his arguments by saying that by imposing sales tax on SIM cards and mobile phones under schedule 9’s section 3(b), the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has violated fundamental human rights. The single bench of the IHC comprising Justice Athar Minallah while directing FBR’s counsel Hafiz Munawar Iqbal to complete arguments on the next date adjourned the hearing till Nov 28.
