TEVTA seeks LCCI help to upgrade curricula

LAHORE: Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh has said that the Authority is planning to upgrade its curricula with the help of private sector to produce international standard manpower.

He was talking to media at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Nauman Kabir, former president Shahid Hassan Sheikh, former senior vice president Sheikh Muhammad Arshad and EC members also spoke on the occasion.

The TEVTA chairman said that the Authority wanted to sign MOU with the LCCI, suggesting forming a TEVTA-LCCI liaison committee. He also said that all TEVTA labs were being upgraded through extra funding.

The chairman, who brought with him the entire TEVTA team, said that all efforts were being made to increase the number of trainers in TEVTA institutes. He said that trained manpower can play a vibrant role to boost the national economy and growth of the industry.

Speaking on the occasion, LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Nauman Kabir said that collaboration between the two institutions can bridge the skill gap by value addition and responding to technological shift in manufacturing and facing global challenges. This, he said would lead to a quantum jump in the exports of the country.
