TEXAS: A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer was arrested for possession of marijuana.
Officer Joseph M. Ledesma was arrested by the Texas Department of Public Safety after finding 2 ounces of marijuana in his possession.
Officials said Ledesma has been with the agency since 1987 and was currently assigned to the CBP canine center in El Paso.
Ledesma was booked into the El Paso County Jail Monday on a $300 bond. He was released the same day after posting bond.
In a statement CBP officials said:
“CBP stresses honor and integrity in every aspect of our mission, and the overwhelming majority of CBP employees and officers perform their duties with honor and distinction, working tirelessly every day to keep our country safe. We do not tolerate corruption or abuse within our ranks, and we fully cooperate with any criminal or administrative investigation of alleged misconduct by any of our personnel, on or off duty.”
