Textile Policy to be announced after Eid: Afridi

LAHORE: Textile Policy will be announced after Eidul Azha and implemented during the next financial year, said Federal Minister for Textile and Industries Abbas Khan Afridi.

He was talking to media after attending the annual meeting of All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association. He announced that gas supply to industry in the province would not be suspended during winter. He said that the government would try its best to avoid any layoffs of industrial labourers owing to gas suspension.

The Federal Minister said that cotton sector needed much improvement despite good production, adding that cotton seed bill should have been approved, which had been pending for the last 16 years. He said that the government was also working on the import of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), which would be available to CNG stations in 2015.

“56 companies have made investment in the oil and gas exploration sector, which will help control the shortage of energy crises in the country,” he added.
