Textile units to get uninterrupted gas supply assures Dar

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting of the representatives of Textile Industry, senior officials of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources and the SNGPL here.

Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was also present on the occasion.

The meeting reviewed the situation regarding supply of gas to textile export  units in the country. The Finance Minister on this occasion gave directions for immediate restoration of  gas supply to these units and also called upon officials concerned to try to ensure gas supply  during the winter season for optimum production. The smooth provision of gas will help the textile exporters keep their production units fully functional during the remaining months of winter.

The Minister said that textile exports were a major source of foreign exchange earnings for the country and the government would facilitate the industry in every possible manner.

Representatives of the  textile units who attended the meeting thanked the Minister for his personal interest in resolving their problem and assured that the textile exporters would put in their best for economic progress of the country.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a meeting with traders and representatives of the business community at the FBR. SAPM on Revenue, Haroon Akhtar, Chairman FBR and other FBR officials were also present on the occasion.

The meeting reviewed progress of talks that have been held between the traders and the FBR during the past few months with the aim to facilitating the business community.

Both sides expressed satisfaction on their concerted efforts for devising  a  package for traders/business commmunity including both filers and non-filers. The meeting agreed that after completing necessary modalities, the package  would be announced in the first week of January 2016.

The traders and businessmen paid gratitude to the Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar and the FBR team for continued engagement with the business community with the aim to addressing their problems. They said that the decisions by both sides would Insha Allah be received positively.

Prominent businessmen community representatives who attended the meeting included Mr. Naeem Mir, Secretary Genral APAT, Ajmal Baloch, President APAT, Chaudhry Mehboob Ali Sirki, President Anjuman e Tajaran Punjab, and Mr. Ateeq Mir from Karachi.
