Six sacks containing 233 bars of compressed ganja, each weighing a kilogramme, and a long-tailed boat were seized from the suspect.

Mr Pattaporn and three accomplices were on board the boat to allegedly transport the drugs to an area near a Puta spirit shrine in tambon Khamtao when a team of military personnel spotted them and asked search the boat. The three other alleged smugglers managed to escape.

After the arrest, the suspect was asked to undergo a urine test for illicit drugs and tested positive for drug use, police said.

Authorities said the seized drugs were worth about 5 million baht.
