BANGKOK: The Thai Ministry of Commerce has decided to focus on Thai products with high potential during the remaining months of this year, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reports. According tp Thai Minister of Commerce Abhiradee Tantraporn, Thai food exports are looking up in the latter half of the year, a result of the government’s efforts to address illegal fishing and labour problems, thus producing an improved image of Thailand’s businesses and facilitating international trade deals.
Thai food exports are expected to grow 1.9 per cent this year to a value of US$3.358 billion. The ministry believes the entire export sector will grow by 0.3 per cent. The minister said this after a meeting with representatives of agricultural product and food exporters such as the Thai Frozen Foods Association, Thai Tuna Industry Association and the Thai Broiler Processing Exporters Association to evaluate the current trade situation and set future promotion plans.
