LAHORE: Three customs officials performing their duties at Allama Iqbal International Airport retired after completion of their job tenure on Wednesday.

The Customs Preventive arranged a simple but graceful ceremony in the honor of the retired officers. A number of customs officials participated in the ceremony and hailed the services rendered by retired officers. On other hand, no new appointment has made on the vacant seats of the retired superintendents.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan customs is already facing shortage of staff at Allama Iqbal International Airport since long time but no new recruitment has made by the department to fill the vacant seats that are essential at Lahore airport.

Shortage of officers at Air Freight Unit, Customs Traffic and Export unit is very serious issue that seeks immediate attention of higher authorities. Customs officials in this regard told Customs Today that new hiring will be done after election 2018 because of ban on new hiring by the Election Commission of Pakistan. Passengers are facing problems due the shortage of staff at airport.
