BEIJING: Recently, in Tianjin Customs District, Airport Customs House seized 171 controlled knives on the site of express control. All those knives were identified as prohibited ones in line with China Standards on Controlled Knives. Now this case has been transferred to Public Security Bureau. Controlled knives, all destructive and lethal to certain extent, are banned by China from non-permitted entry and exit.

With electronic shopping growing at abroad, Tianjin Customs hereby especially reminds that: because different countries have different regulations on citizens’ possession and carrying of firearms and knives, many knives sold on overseas shopping websites are not usual in type, length and point angle and therefore should be classified into controlled knives; before mailing and buying such articles, one should refer to China’s laws and regulations such as standards on identification of controlled knives and imitation guns issued by the Ministry of Public Security, and must not take or mail any prohibited articles inward or outward.
