Time extension in ST incentive package sought

KARACHI: The Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) has written to the Sindh Chief Minister seeking time extension in sales tax incentive package.

In a letter sent to CM Syed Qaim Ali Shah, the KTBA said that an incentive package, which was announced after a detailed discussion for four months between the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) and the provincial government, was for sales tax on services relating to taxpayers /WHT agents who failed to pay sales tax on services or payment of withheld amount of Sindh Sales Tax vide Notification No SRB-3-4/7/2014 dated April 17, 2014.

It said that time frame of only 13 days was given to avail the benefit was insufficient and a large number of defaulters want to avail this scheme. It said that this was covering the period from July 01, 2011 consisting of more than three and half years and e-filing of almost 40 returns. Therefore, it is requested to extend incentive scheme beyond April 30, 2014.
