TOKYO: Tokyo stocks have closed 0.64 percent lower as oil value fell to near six-year lows and Wall Street also tumbled.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange slid 110.02 points to finish at 17,087.71 on Tuesday, narrowing its earlier losses as the yen weakened.
The broader Topix index of all first-section shares was down 0.43 per cent, or 5.89 points, at 1,374.69.
