TOKYO: Tokyo stocks rose in early trading Wednesday, with export-led shares gaining ground on the yen’s fall versus the U.S. dollar.
In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 81.55 points, or 0.45 percent, from Tuesday to 18,288.70. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 7.11 points, or 0.47 percent, to 1,506.39.
