TOKYO: Tokyo stocks slumped at the start of trade Monday as a stronger yen hurt exporters and crude prices tumbled after the world’s top oil producers failed to reach an agreement on capping output.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 3.04 per cent, or 511.90 points, to 16,336.13 shortly after the opening bell, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares fell 3.03 per cent, or 41.27 points, to 1,320.13.
