TOKYO: Tokyo stocks opened higher Wednesday following overnight expands on Wall Street.
At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 101.08 points, or 0.57 percent, from Tuesday to 17,764.30.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 6.03 points, or 0.42 percent, at 1,433. 88.
Gainers were led by export-related precision instruments and automaker sectors. Other major gainers included steel and brokerage issues.
