Top 400 taxpayers being offered extra incentives: Senate told

ISLAMABAD: In a bid to encourage the regular taxpayers and to bring more people under tax net, the government has offered extra incentives for 400 top tax filers.

Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid revealed this while replying in the Senate on a motion moved by Senator Mian Muhammad Ateeq.

The minister said that it was the prime responsibility of the government to protect the rights of the tax filers in the country. Zahid Hamid said that there are so many legal sections to protect the rights of the tax filers which were implemented, adding that it was the responsibility of the tax filers to properly pay taxes.

The minister said that Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has made foolproof system for the tax filers and they have availed 19 incentives which could not get by the non-filers. He said the government has also offered to pay tax on instalments.
