Torkham border gateway to complete soon: NA body told

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence was informed on Monday that the construction work on Torkham border gateway has been restored and would be completed soon.

The committee met here under the Chairmanship of Sheikh Rohale Asghar, MNA. The Committee discussed “The National Command Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2016” (Ordinance No. I of 2016) in detail and recommended to pass it.

The Committee was also briefed on the arrest of an Indian spy in Balochistan and current tension on Pak-Afghan Border, Torkham. The Committee was informed that the construction work on gate at Torkham border has been restored and will be completed very soon. The NA body also considered report of the Sub-Committee regarding the issue of land earmarked for the establishment of Military Cantonment at Swat and adopted with certain amendments. The meeting was attended by MNAs Tahir Bashir Cheema, Isphanyar M Bhandara, Sardar Muhammad Shafqat Hayat Khan, Mir Dostain Domki, Lt. Col (R) Ghulam Rasul Sahi, Nawab Ali Wassan, Dr Shireen Mehrunnisa Mazari, Shafqat Mahmood, Sanjay Perwani, Kishwer Zehra and Mahmood Khan Achakzai MNAs and officials of the Ministry.
