Torkham customs aborts bid of smuggling 5.5 kg heroin into Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Station of Torkham foiled an attempt of smuggling of 5.5 kilogram of heroin powder from an Afghan national. The powder was concealed in the CNG tank of the vehicle.

According to Deputy Collector Fazli Shakoor who got a tip-off that a huge consignment is coming from Afghanistan. The deputy collector formed a squad of Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Torkham which seized 5.5 kilogram of heroin from a Hilux pickup with registration of D-1710-Peshawar and arrested the driver.

The deputy collector stated that driver, Zazle Haq S/o Kotwali, a resident of Ningarhar Afghanistan, Passport No of OA-2324689, was carrying the contraband heroin was packed in 06 packets tactfully concealed in the CNG tank of the vehicle.

Fazli Shakoor said the recovered heroin along with the vehicle was seized for violation of Section 06, 07 and 08 of Control of Narcotics Substances Act-1997 punishable under Section 9 (C) and 15 of the Act. The value of the seized heroin in international market is in millions.
