Torkham Customs foils attempt of smuggling weapons to Pakistan

PESHAWAR: The customs staff posted at Torkham border has foiled an attempt to smuggle weapons from Afghanistan to Pakistan with the help of political administration of Khyber Agency on Wednesday.

Sources informed Customs Today that the customs authorities intercepted truck bearing number KBL 2131 while entering to Pakistan via Torkham border which was loaded with weapons including guns, pistols, short guns and AK-47 rifles.

According to border authorities the seizure has been second in last two weeks due to which Pakistan had been saved from big disaster. Collector Customs Saeed Jadoon lauded the efforts of Torkham Custom’s station for such a big seizure of weapons.

The weapons seized at Torkham border are much in number and contain different verity of guns along bullets. FIR has been lodged against the accused driver who has also been arrested along two other people.

The sources further informed that all the customs high ups appreciated the activity of customs authorities and said that due to strict direction issued by Collector customs Muhammad Saeed Jadoon it has been impossible to deceive the forces and carry out smuggling activity.
