Torkham Customs recovers 2,14,000 Saudi Riyals from Afghan national

PESHAWAR: The Model Customs Collectorate Customs Station Torkham recovered Saudi Riyals 214000 equivalent to Pakistani rupees of 5.9 million from an Afghan national who departing to Afghanistan at Torkham Border.

Sources told Customs Today, that the currency was concealed in the luggage of Khalid Danial and was detected through scanning of his luggage.

First Investigation Report (FIR) has been lodged against the accused. Further investigations are underway from accused Khalid Danial.

The sources at Customs Station Torkham informed that it is the fourth seizure of the current month by which along NDP items were taken in the possession.

The Deputy Collector at Customs Station Torkham Muhammad Najib Arjumand had praised the performance of customs officials and said that zero tolerance is being adopted towards smuggling . He said that Torkhan Customs Station is using all legal options to curb the smuggling activities in the region as these activities is also causing huge loss to our national kitty.

The deputy collector said that smuggling attempts of NDP goods worth millions have been foiled by Customs Torkham officials in November during routine checking and raids on prior tip offs.

It is necessary to mention here that earlier on 15 November an attempt to smuggle NDP Toyota Surf vehicle which was loaded with huge quantity fine quality hashish and opium from Afghanistan to Khyber Agency was foiled by alert Customs staff present their at duty in Torkham.
