WASHINGTON: If you like in the United States, mark your calendars for two years from now because the sky will be putting on quite the show on that day.
On August 21, 2017 the moon will pass in between the sun and the Earth creating a total solar eclipse that will only be able to be seen from America. It will be the first total solar eclipse in four decades to pass by North America and people are already calling it ‘The Great American Eclipse.’
NASA has created a map of the eclipse path and while about 12 million people are expected to be able to see the phenomenon that day, some areas will have a privileged view.
Places like Idaho Falls, Idaho; Casper, Wyoming; Grand Island, Nebraska; Lincoln, Nebraska; Columbia, Missouri; Nashville, Tennessee; Columbia, South Carolina; and Charleston, South Carolina are in the eclipse’s totality path, meaning they will be right below that shadow track.
