SEOUL: Samsung introduces Galaxy S6 a few months ago and started selling last month. This device came in equipped with a revamped camera, a display screen that is sharper and a much reduced charging time, putting it ahead of the other devices when it comes to the smartphone race.
In essence, the camera, software and display that this device has come with, have corrected all the wrongs that Samsung had made before in the smartphone world. It has always been a norm that iPhones from Apple are better than smartphones from Samsung, just like it is for the sun to rise in the East and set in the West.
Samsung made itself to be lowly considered by many thanks to its plastic design, modified Android OS as well as a poor camera. However, none of this is no longer true thanks to the newly introduced Samsung Galaxy S6. In fact, Samsung looks taking a direct aim at Apple’s iPhones with this new gadget, which has a design and features almost similar to the iPhone.
If you were still pissed off with the entry design or model of Samsung, there is no better time to try out a Samsung device. There is no longer the waterproof feature, removable battery, expandable memory and plastic design. There is still more that Samsung needs to do in the software department if it is looking to completely out do Apple’s iPhone 6. The hardware department has seen Samsung outdo lots of other Android manufacturers and the iPhone 6 as well, which seems to be lacking as far as the display screen, camera as well as charging matters are concerned.
Samsung Galaxy S6 looks similar to the iPhone 6
When it comes to the looks or rather design, the latest Galaxy S6 has dumped the plastics that used to make the Galaxy S series devices look cheap and low class and there is a new metal and glass design. In essence, it looks as if Samsung compiled top features from all iPhone models to come up with a design for the Galaxy S6.
You’ll come across a glossy frame on the screen, metal on the edges and a silver trim around the home button, which is not that different from what you get on the iPhone 6. Furthermore, the thickness of the Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6 is not different at just 0.27 inches. On the bottom of the Galaxy S6 you’ll find speaker strip and ports, which only but add to the similarities with the iPhone 6.
At the back you’ll come across something very different from the iPhone 6. The Galaxy S6 features a Gorilla Glass 4 on the rear, which looks a lot similar to the iPhone 4.
Great display and fast charging
While things might look a lot more similar for these two devices Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6 wait until you check the display screens of these two. Samsung Galaxy S6 has a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels on its 5.1 inch screen size. Furthermore, you will get an amazing pixel density of 577 pixels per inch, which when compared to the 326 pixels per inch that comes with the iPhone 6, is much better. The iPhone 6 also features a smaller screen size of 4.7 inches.
This translates to sharper text, photos and videos on the Galaxy S6 than the iPhone 6. In addition, the larger size of display on the S6 means you have more to see on the screen than when using the Apple flagship. While screen display may be one of the biggest battery hogs, the Galaxy S6 has a longer battery life than the iPhone 6. However, the latter device takes a little longer to charge than the Samsung device. Just like the iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy S6 has no swappable battery unit, but users will be able to use wireless charging, which takes much longer to completely charge the phone than normal charging.
A camera that is worth it
The Samsung Galaxy S6 features a 16MP camera with an f/1.9 aperture lens. This is nothing like what you get on the iPhone 6, which is an 8MP rear camera that has an aperture lens of f/2.2 and with this camera; you can take some of the best photos a smartphone has ever managed. In fact, you can be guaranteed of more vibrant colors when using the iPhone 6’s camera, but with the Galaxy S6, you will be amazed with the detail you get.
Software
Samsung has done a tremendous job by cleaning up its TouchWiz UI and allowing more of Android 5.0.2 Lollipop that it ships with, to take more control. Navigating the device is now much easier than before as users no longer need a manual for this. Samsung has also worked the dripping-water sound that characterized tapping of the screen.
These updates have not in any way affected the speed of the phone thanks to its 3GB of RAM and octa-core processor.
The current crop of Samsung smartphones are worth buying, especially the Samsung Galaxy S6.
