Towel exports increased by 8.92% to 42,952 metric ton in July-Sept

ISLAMABAD: Towel exports from the country increased by 8.92 percent in July-September of the current fiscal year 2015-16 as against same period of last year.

According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), about 42,952 metric ton of towels worth of US $201.54 million were exported during first three months of current year whereas 39,016 MT worth of US $185.029 million towels were exported during same period of last year.

On month-on-month basis, the towel exports were recorded at 14,183 MT worth of US $69.957 million in September 2015 as compared to 12,910 MT worth of US $64.464 million in August 2015 thus showing an increase of 8.52 percent.

On year-on-year basis, the towel exports however witnessed a slight decrease of 0.56 percent as 14,448 MT of towels valuing US $70.351 million were exported in September 2014.

Similarly, the exports of ready-made garments also increased by 6.6 percent during first three months of current fiscal year (2015-16) as compared to same period of last year.

The ready-made garments’ export were recorded US $510.023 million during July-September 2015-16 as against the exports of US $478.173 million during same period of last year.

On month-on-month basis, however the exports declined by 11.95 percent from US $175.725 million in September 2015 to US $154.731 million in August 2015.
