Toyota teases hybrid RAV4 SUV, likely to unveil in New York on April 01

TOKYO: The Japanese company has teased its family-sized SUV hybrid RAV4 ahead of the SUV’s official unveiling on April 1.

Despite being at the forefront of pushing and of popularizing hybrid engine technology, this will be the first time a petrol-electric powertrain is available on Toyota’s family-sized SUV.

However, in recent years in the US and in Europe the demand for crossovers and the competition in the segment have become so intense that every company, Toyota included, is pulling out all the stops in order to make their models stand out from the crowd.

After its official New York Auto Show unveiling, the new car is expected to go on sale in the U.S. and in Europe in 2016 — the current generation RAV4 is less than three years old.
