TOKYO: Toyota has officially unveiled its refreshed Corolla hatch, following a front-end preview handed down late last month. These latest shots offer a first look at the rear of the refreshed Corolla, and Toyota has also today confirmed a late 2015 debut in Australia.
As revealed last week, the face of the refreshed Corolla has been given a new grille, headlight and bumper design, possibly also hinting at a new unified design styling for the brand.
At the rear, Toyota has crafted a sharper appearance for the tail lamps while working within the existing assembly.
That look is thanks to a new design that positions the narrow red braking lens above a new clear section for the indicators and reversing lights.
The rear bumper has also been updated, with the tall outboard reflectors now repositioned along the lower edge. Likewise, the once tall ‘faux diffuser’ panel has shrunk to become a small highlight below the number-plate cavity.
Interior updates are still to be revealed, although Toyota claims it has reduced “the visual mass” of the dash, while introducing revised instrument displays and “a more consistent shape and finish” to surfaces and highlights.
In Australia, buyers will be offered the same 103kW 1.8 litre four-cylinder petrol engine that powers the current range, although Toyota promises as-yet unspecified fuel efficiency improvements.
