NEW YORK: Toyota Motor Sales USA is currently conducting new recall campaign over-seas for several models because of some possible safety issues. According to the car manufacturer, the new recall announced by Toyota is currently affecting no less than 112,500 vehicles in the United States. This recall is affecting the Camry, Camry Hybrid, Highlander and Highlander Hybrid vehicles, from the 2015 model year, along with the RAV4 EVs, from the 2014 and 2015 model years.
The vehicles in question have some issues with components which may cause the car to shift to Neutral due to a software malfunction and this will lead to the warning notification of Check EV System on the instrument panel. If the cars will shift to Neutral, then they will experience a sudden loss in drive power which will increase the risk of a crash and injury.
The car manufacturer is also recalling the Camry, Camry Hybrid, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid and RAV4 vehicles from the 2015 model year. This is happening because of a circuit board for the EPS (electric power steering) which could have been damaged during assembly. This may cause the power steering to stop working but manual steering will be maintained. The condition will increase the driver’s efforts to properly handle the car, leading to a possible crash. Owners will be notified by Toyota via first class mail and dealers will be making the necessary repairs / replacements free of charge.
