Trade between Pakistan, India resumed after 12 days at Wagah

LAHORE: The Trade between Pakistan and India via Wagah border has been restored after it was suspended for more than 12 days as the Indian authorities refused visas to the Pakistani drivers.

Sources told Customs Today that the closure of cross border trade between the two countries has imposed millions of rupees losses on the Pakistani sides.

The sources said that the Indian authorities refused visa to Pakistani drivers following the Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan was not provided conveyance at the border to go back to India and he had to cross the border by foot.

They added that after intense efforts of customs and Pakistani Railways the trade between the two countries has resumed.

Experts said that trade with India is in the interests of Pakistan as it enable the Pakistani authorities to stabilize prices of the foodstuffs due to sufficient supply.

They added that both the countries should keep on trading in the best interests of the people of the either sides.
