Trade deficit with India remains Rs 1.72 billion in first half of Feb 2015

LAHORE: The trade deficit with India through Wagah Border alone remained Rs 1.72 billion during the first half of February 2015. The amount is more than the corresponding period of the previous month, January.
As per detail, the trade deficit remained Rs 1.24 billion during first half of February 2015 during trade between Pakistan and India via Wagah Border. Pakistan has exported items worth Rs 393 million to India through Wagah border during first half of February that is Rs 113 million less than the exports of same period of last month. The decline was observed in the exports of cement, gypsum, vegetables and seeds of plants.
On the other hand, Pakistan imported items worth Rs 2.12 billion during first half of February 2015 while it was marked at Rs 1.75 billion during corresponding period of last month, January 2015. The increase was observed in the import of soya bean, ginger, cotton and other vegetables.
Pakistan Customs Land Freight Unit Wagah has collected almost Rs 242 million as taxes during the first half of February which is Rs 16 million more than the collection of last month. It is important to mention that LFU Collected Rs 226 million in the first half of January 2015.
