ISLAMABAD: The complicated taxation system, high rates of taxes and lack of better infrastructure development in markets are the main hurdles in business promotion and FBR and CDA should address these issues on priority to facilitate the growth of business activities, observed Atif Ikram Sheikh, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce. He was addressing a delegation of traders that visited Chamber House led by Syed Nadeem Mansoor, President, Traders Welfare Association, Blue Area, Islamabad to congratulate the newly elected Office Bears of ICCI.
Chaudhry Furqan Group Chairman, Zafar Bakhtawari former President ICCI, Imran Abbasi Senior Vice President Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders, representatives of various trade associations and a large number of Blue Area traders were present at the occasion.
Atif Ikram Sheikh said Blue Area was the largest commercial center in Islamabad where many big brands including Saver Foods, Tehzeeb Bakers, D.Watson and others were doing business, however, due to lack of developmental works and better facilities, it was facing difficulties in running businesses.
He stressed that CDA should develop this business center at par with international standards to encourage new investment and promote businesses.
Syed Nadeem Mansoor President Traders Welfare Association Blue Area, Ch. Furqan Group Chairman, Zafar Bakhtawari former President ICCI, Imrann Abbasi Senior Vice President Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders and others highlighted the key issues of Blue Area. They said CDA should develop parking plazas, arrange U-turn on the main road, install filtration plants and construct public bath rooms at suitable places in this business area for facilitation of traders and the visitors. It was stressed that Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders and all local market unions should work under the umbrella of ICCI for better solution of key issues being faced by the traders.
Sheikh Pervez Ahmed Senior Vice President and Sheikh Abdul Waheed Vice President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry assured that ICCI will make efforts for resolving all traders’ problems. They said market unions should send their important problems in writing to ICCI so that the same could be taken up with relevant departments for redress.
