Traders’ boycott bank transactions, stage protest against levy of WHT

LAHORE: Traders in the provincial capital of Punjab once again stage protest against imposition of withholding tax on banking transactions and chanted slogans against government.

On Friday at the call of All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran Pakistan traders boycott their dealing with banks to record their protest against above mentioned tax.

While addressing to the protestors in front of Punjab Assembly hall chairman All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran Attiq Meer said that they are not ready to accept any sort of tax on banking transactions. Imposition of WHT is cruel act of the government which is totally unacceptable for all traders of the country he added.

Government imposed withholding tax of 0.3 percent on banking transactions which traders are not ready to pay at any cost. Traders have observed many strikes in the country as well.

On the other hand Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has decided to meet traders himself to find a solution of WHT.
