Traders criticise ‘mini budget’ but welcome FBR new chairman

ISLAMABAD: All Pakistan Anjman-e-Tajiran Central President and member of Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) income tax and sales tax committees Ajmal Baloch said that concerns regarding “mini budget” will be raised before the government, adding that protests will also be staged against it.

Appreciating the appointment of new FBR Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan, he said that Khan has vast experience in revenue matters that will help the department to improve the tax collections.

He hoped that new chairman will chalk out strategy to resolve the persisting issues of the business community.

Criticising the mini budget, he said that it will increase the inflation in the country as traders will have to sell the products keeping in view the cost as they could not pay extra taxes from their income and resultantly public have to face the inflation.

He said that the matter regarding the imposition of withholding tax on banking transactions could take time to settle but the appointment of new chairman will help to bring early solutions of matters.
