ISLAMABAD: Inland Revenue-Policy Senior Member and Federal Board of Revenue Spokesperson Shahid Hussain Asad has said that traders must pay attention to their business instead of holding strikes.

Talking to Customs Today, he said that the government has already decided to bring non-filers into the tax net for the sake of country’s development. He said that traders must look into their tax matters instead of raising slogans against withholding tax.

“They must participate in country’s development. It is their duty to pay tax on time. Traders are also creating hurdles for the government, which can be very harmful for the country,” he said.

He said that not paying tax has now become a habit of our new generation. “It is our duty to do something for the betterment of our country.”

He pointed out that the traders must think positive about withholding tax, as they know it can be adjusted. He made it clear that the doors of FBR are always open for the traders’ community, adding that the revenue board would try its best to solve their problems regarding tax by using legal channels. “Tax is not a burden; it is a responsibility that the traders must pay attention to.”
